Surviving the Holidays – GriefShare

Posted by on October 20, 2017 under Uncategorized

GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. Please join us on Thursday, November 16 at 6pm at the WestArk Conference Room (access off of the back parking lot). There is no charge for this event, but we do ask that you register here.

The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. These people share honestly about:

  • Being prepared for surprising emotions that may hit over the holidays
  • What to do about traditions and other coming changes
  • How to handle holiday parties and invitations
  • How to survive potentially awkward moments with other people
  • Where to find comfort, strength, and hope in a seemingly hopeless time

Those who attend will receive a Survival Guide filled with practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season.

For more information, watch this video, call Dena Jenkins at 479.650.3144 or email dena@westark.org.

Celebrate Recovery

Posted by on October 19, 2017 under Featured, Uncategorized

All of us have hurts,  habit and hang-ups.  The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to draw people closer to Jesus while they find healing.

There are many ways in which you can participate in and/or support this ministry.

Life’s Healing Choices Study

We’ve all been hurt by other people, we’ve hurt ourselves, and we’ve hurt others. And as a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up, or habit. But the question we all face is, Where do we go from here?

In addition to practical, encouraging biblical teaching, each chapter includes two real-life testimonies of men and women whose lives have been transformed by living out the eight choices in this book. Through making each of these choices, you too will find God’s pathway to wholeness, growth, spiritual maturity, happiness, and healing. You’ll find real answers, real hope, and a real future—one healing choice at a time.

Join a Celebrate Recovery Group

Beginning in January, we will host a Celebrate Recovery Group here at WestArk!

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits.  It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory.  Twenty-five years ago, Saddleback Church launched Celebrate Recovery with forty-three people. It was designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process.

Celebrate Recovery is now in over 30,000 churches worldwide!
